Always nice to see this big guy waking up. This one is in a 24” training pot and has three sets of knees that are growing nicely. It’s been three seasons since it was chopped down from a 12’ nursery tree root bound in a 50 gallon pot. So far so good towards the final design.

Thank you. It was a 12’ tree I found in a nursery pot bound in a 50 gallon pot. It’s a work in progress. Hard to see in the photos but there are three sets of knees also.

Yes, it’s a poinciana about 10 years old. No blooms yet but I’m hopeful.

Back yard tropicals on an overcast morning.

Another update on this large Bald Cypress along with some other tropicals. It’s starting to callous over and is really growing out as I intended. These guys are all pretty large.

A little update on the beast. it sill has many years of healing ahead of it but so far it’s coming along pretty nice for the second year

Jason, it's an old Schefflera. The canopy is a little over 5' across.

Here’s a couple more pictures in the sun. I cut the split down a little with a sharp knife to eventually look like a split in the trunk to compensate for such a fat tree with an eventual flat top design. Hopefully it will callus over well eventually.

From what I was able to find on line I think you are correct. They look just like fungus gnats larvae from the photos I have seen. They are very resilient and had to get rid of.

I do see even smaller bugs running around that look like tiny beatles and are kind of reddish in color. The worm looking things are almost a clear to white in color and 1/16-1/8" long.

Can anyone help me identify the small white worms looking creatures that are in the soil of my BRT and Bouginvilla? They are about an 1/8" long and constantly squirming around. Hopefully you can see them in the pictures or video.

Well, here it is a year later. It has a long way to go but so far so good. Crepes grow like crazy in South Florida so it’s constant shaping and pruning.

Well, here is the big guy this week. He’s reaching about six feet now and very healthy for his first year being collected from the nursery. Next spring I’ll she what it looks like defoliated and choose what to do with it. This year it was left to grow untouched.

I agree. I’m just happy they are both doing so well right now. I guess each will pose a different set of challenges.
