Can anyone ID this Japanese Maple variety with very small leaves?

What I meant was this maple might be a seedling not cultivar. What I meant by propagate is what was said in the post, "cuttings / air layers"

Anyone ever heard of the maple Daidai Haru?

Its propagated by Garden Design Nursery just outside of Athens, Ga. Ive been told about it, but since I usually visit and drink craft beers with the owner, I cant recall. Dave Freed, the owner, is one of the best maple growers in the business. He only grafts, but beautiful plants, that make...

Can anyone ID this Japanese Maple variety with very small leaves?

Maple identification is hard with all the cultivars and even the varying differences between species seedlings. It might be a seedling and not grafted which means it doesn't have a cultivar name. If it has a nice form and leaf structure, id go for propagation. Often people prefer seedlings for...

USA tour: Bonsai - BBQ - Beer : Recommendations?

If traveling by the Atlanta, Georgia area, feel free to stop over at my place. I'm just about 30 minutes north east of the city. I could smoke a pork butt and we have several great breweries in the area I could get some nice craft beers to try. I travel every other weekend so would have to see...

    Air Layering Japanese maple

As mentioned yes you can take two layers on the same branch. But each air layer is a balance between taking the cambium off without disrupting upwards water flow. So you are basically increasing the odds of making too deep a cut on the first one towards the roots and thus stopping water flow for...

    Air Layering Japanese maple

LOL, that's me for sure! I'm really wanting to get some air layering done this summer before wife prunes the crap out of them! End of this week I will be home so its looking like now or never. Of course supposed to be in the upper 90s and high humidity in Atlanta. Doesn't inspire me to want to...

    Maple Cuttings June 2019

Currently I am running on a fairly quick schedule. Since I don't have a humidity tent or shade cloth on it this season, its more open to the elements (wind and sun). The light mist can blow some. Also they are under a large oak, but do get some brief sun. So since I have to travel for work the...

    Maple Cuttings June 2019

She would never let me send her away, wouldn't let me have that kind of control. LOL. I take advantage of the one week a year where I don't have to do her list of chores and get to do my hobbies! She actually did help me build the Mist Frame, last weekend I was home. Probably felt bad she...

    Maple Cuttings June 2019

They are called CONEtainers. I got them from Greenhouse Megastore online. I like them because it gives me a lot of pots that take up a small footprint. They come in 7in and 10 in. I just go the 10 in. The tray is very sturdy and store well. They also can stack on top of each other with pots in...

    Maple Cuttings June 2019

A very bad addiction! LOL I travel a lot with work so I dream up things to do for fun while bored in the hotel room. Then when I get home, I have something to tinker with. And of course trying to create things to give me things to do as retirement comes my way in the next 15 years or so.

Newbie to Japanese Maples - Murasaki Kiyohime

Yes, I met Keith on a few of the North American Maple Society meetings. Enjoyed seeing a few of his Acer Truncatum cultivars. Never meet Scott but heard great things about him. Ive also been out to Carl Munns nursery in Oregon a few times who provided a lot of trees to Metro Maples.

Newbie to Japanese Maples - Murasaki Kiyohime

As long as you keep it well watered in the late summer heat you will be fine. It would prefer more morning sun vs afternoon but you have to work with what you got. Maples can handle more than most think. Just as long as the soil is well draining (which sounds like what you got) and regular water...

Newbie to Japanese Maples - Murasaki Kiyohime

I would wait and get a feel for it and maples in general. Are you planning on Bonsai with it or just pot culture? Looks to be a very nice Murasaki! Also, you took picture inside, you do plan to move outside?
