Sweet! I meant long (left to right), and narrow (front to back). However, I’ll be in Chicago twice this year, so we can work something out. Thanks!

If you’d like to make another one of those melting pots, say 16” long x 6” deep x 3” tall, that would be great.

The semi threw me.

What is going in a...
melting pots, say 16” long x 6” deep x 3” tall,
?

That's huge! Surely not a Kusamono! Sounds fun!

I can only fit about 16" in the kiln, so a final size can be about 15" max with lower shrink.

Doin it!

Good luck with your account. I only just started on FB and have had my account disabled twice in a week for reasons unknown. Opened the account, it was disabled 10 minutes later. re-enabled 3 days later, used it for thirty minutes, added a few friends, and it was disabled again. I've barely used it, and it is already more trouble than it is worth. Shame too. I was looking forward to checking out the famed bonsai auction group.

If not, I'll keep whooping these up so I can perfect my timing.

Last few lbs of this buff clay that builds these well, and I'm reupping on the dark soon...no need to rush!

@Owen Reich dark or light?
Totally slaying that pot for you bro, on the wicked wicked.....the whole length!
It'll be ready by April. This is your gift Sorcemission, so feel free to give me some tree pics or anything else I might need to know to make it IT!
It's the least I can do for what The BAOJ series has done for me, which, let's not play, wouldn't have been so great without you in it!

Thanks for ALL your help and support!
This thread has given me great foresight.

the funkier the better! more dali salvador the better! it'll be fun to see what the one on the right turns out to be. In the mean time, I will try to take a picture of the tree that I'm working on that I want the pot for. It's not a finished tree, but should give you an idea (it's an elm that I hope will have the look of the attached picture)

Yes and No.

These are as close as I've come so far....
I've actually been sitting on the one on the right to give to you...but at a 1/4in deep...I want to give you something way more useful. I'd love to do the new V-Scots!;)
20180116_102536.jpg 20180116_102723.jpg 20180116_102638.jpg

My catch 22 is being wheelless.

Something about the time involved to free hand carve/trim a base that will leave me with a product I feel will be outside of an acceptable range (96%+) perfect, for a simple form, which should be easy to make perfect...?:confused:

I am also just finding a few examples of a foot flush, or more or less flush with the pot wall, that I find attractive. I think because of all the mass produced shit pots that have those feet.

(Trying to find pics but my phone is dying)

I like that pot you have.
And I like the flush look on square semi cascades too, but not much more...

I guess its been subconscious til thinking about it now..
But I like insetting the feet, to have "structure somewhere" to stabilize them a bit more visually..
These wobbly Sorceround forms, I think would feel too "near collapse" without that structure line, the shadows...

I am on a journey to the most simple extreme. Getting close.20180118_121424.jpg

And the most extravagant....not as close.20180118_121501.jpg
@Cadillactaste gift pot photo bomb! Left!

When a pot comes to life, because of a person, like that one, and a few others...they really belong to that person.

I know I'll know when I make your pot Frary! The simplest pots are the most difficult! Like a formal upright! But its coming! Earth to earth its coming!

That's the tree that needs the pot.
I have a couple ovals that will work for it but I think it calls for a round.
There's no rush. You have other people putting demands on you right now. I'm very patient and can wait until you get everything figured out.
Don't be giving this stuff away either bud.
Good handmade pots don't come cheap.
Good handmade pots made by someone you know ate priceless.

Make whatever you want. If a bunch of people identify with a novel container form, that is a winner fo sho. Bjorn’s series was fun. Glad you like it.

About as round as my head.
Pretty round.

Lolol!

This is gonna be another one of them "peekaboo Max" ones....
That shit still makes me laugh everytime I see a hole in a tree!

Now Round head motherfuckers everywhere are going to think I'm laughing at them!

I can't make a pot that round!

But I'll come to the show bald and we can shoot a video of each other using our heads as molds and paddling clay around them!
Something about taking this here community funny one step further is a great goal of mine!

I'm going to look at that Scots today.

Come on @ sorce,

I showed you how to make a round with a banding wheel, they get up to
12 inches.
For an oval, you make a round pot and cut a leaf type shape from the bottom.
Centre it and then careful push the pot together.

Making Yi Xing 'perfect' pots takes practice and really knowing your clay.
Many buildings and firings [ @M. Frary - might be too early to expect him to
be able to do this -------- quirky and wiggly is always easier to do ---- needs lots
of practice to meet Yi Xing / Tokoname standards ]

Good Day
Anthony

Look for the 12 inch top version or just make one.

If you need to see how to do, just ask. No sweat.

Test making an earthenware commercial clay vitreous.
Save $$$$$

Get this book -------- Clay and Glazes ------ Chapell

Too expensive -------------- library loan.

I wonder if you could make a pottery wheel for yourself...
Maybe a modified fan motor....use an electronic speed control...just a thought...
I like the irregular look of those shallow ones though...cool stuff!
