First I wanted to say thanks to all! This site is awesome and so are the members! Incredibly helpful and fun! Keep it up! I also wanted to suggest a how to's section. It would be really cool for new people like me to be able to just go to a section and be able to find out how to preform any bonsai training methods (how to air layer, how to do ROR, how to use a tree shrinker) without having to spend hours reading contradicting information from various websites and what not then try to figure out who to believe without being able to ask questions or see someone challenge the info. We could cut out all the bs and do all our research right here and be able to read the discussions that have already been talked about. (yes I understand we can already do that in a sense but not to the extent of licking a link and boom all the how to's I ever need. That way people like me wouldn't wear out the experts nearly as much. After becoming a member I much rather come here to find the truth then have to dig through a pile of crap to find a piece of corn but don't wanna over stay my welcome by asking too many questions. Even thought I do a ton of research I still want to ask ever single little thing. Sorry for that BTW all members lol

cut out all the bs

Truth is....

Most of the BS is zone related....
Some of it HAS worked for someone somewhere.

And even if you read everything everywhere and find what works for you......
It might not work for someone else.

Hell....99.999% of people wire in their trees.
@bonhe uses twine that will deteriorate, soon after the tree is rooted enough to stand on its own.
That way you won't get wire marks on your roots, and its just as effective.

The only truly effective how-to 's.....
Are the ones that worked well for you the last time you tried em in your yard!
Your own!

A static list suppresses creativity.

Rock on!

Problem is, there is no single, universally accepted, method.

If something like that is what you desire, this forum is not going to give it to you.

The closest you can do is to pick a mentor who’s trees you like, and learn to do what he does.

Many new to the bonsai hobby will say, “I want to learn from everybody!” The problem is, while the techniques of different Masters may all produce good bonsai, mixing the techniques may severely weaken or kill the tree.

Bonsai is art not science, and although bonsai horticulture could be called science it is more akin to medicine as it works with manipulating living things, and as such is complicated with more unknown than known. All of which means, as Sorce says, that there is no single answer to a question and that many different answers may all contain aspects of truth and can be learned from. Your ultimate level of knowledge and ability will be stronger for having read through hours of contradicting websites until you have developed a practical understanding of what portions work for you and theories as to why. Then you can write your own instructions and add to the confusion :)

You cannot assemble all knowledge bonsai, that you may find, and assume that you know it all. So much in the art/science is dependent on many more things than can be put down on paper. Sometimes you can be so "into" this data base concept that you start assigning crazy and off the wall status to people that have found a way to do something your data base says can't be done. Case in point: years ago it was accepted knowledge that you cannot grow a Mugo Pine as a bonsai, they don't like their roots messed with, and they cannot take the climate and all the methods taught "by the books" failed with them.

I see.. And understand as well. While apparently my idea wasn't as great as it once was to me I couldn't be more happy that I made this post. Incredibly insightful information. Thanks guys for shedding the light
