Awesome sorce! Maybe I will repot my procumbens around the same time.

I hate "didn't skip a beat"....
Because it's impossible to know...
And almost never true....

My summer repotted Mugo is the only time I may have witnessed a beat not skip.

I managed to keep about 97.23% of the roots on this.
20170716_114151.jpg

It needs to be way farther left.
Or cut the left side of the whole thing off...specially that corner.

This was the intended slab front.20170716_114110.jpg

But you lose the root action.

Still haven't reduced it.

I agree, it should be placed closer to the left side edge, maybe even a little higher up on the mound. Id think the slab could then be rotated 180 degrees to make use of that sharp edge that's currently on the left side. Nice... sacrifice branch?

sharp edge

Half way thru..."let's see if this will work"...
I liked how the roots played with that edge.
I want to line them up closer.

You got me thinking about this a lot. thanks for that!

sacrifice branch?

For strength. Not really trunk. This is a shout out to @jkl tree!

Nice dude! What ingredients did you use for the muck wall? Are there drainage holes in the slab or does it just drain through the muck and off the sides?

I drilled some holes.

It's just DE with a moss topper.

I kept some mud on some so it stuck, some sticks wet....
Real patchy.

Thanks Bro!
Recently moved that elm near this guy.
It's doing fab!

Some mucky moss stuff.

Note the weather below around the date of the photo above. Quite hot and perfectly OK!

I moved some big pots from around this to warm stuff up this week.

Great movement!!! Never tried a slab planting......have some volcanic rock. Good strong trees work best right? Looks like that thing might climb of the rock lol...awesome work

I got some not-so-strong ERC I'm forcing onto another volcanic rock(s) this summer!

I have very little experience with good strong trees!

This one was!

But is most important to note...
Our Localest NON ERC or common juniper is Horizontalis.
So it's happy here!
