I bought this Mulberry from another member of the Cleveland Bonsai Club. I think it's a neat little tree. I'm probably going to chop it next year after the first bend. This year I'll be focusing on the nebari and thickening the trunk.

I channeled my inner @markyscott and worked the Ebihara method to the best of my ability. I'm pretty happy with the result. I put down a layer of soil, wired the board to the growbox, covered it with more soil and chopsticked it all in place.

Please ignore the wiring job. It was my first attempt at wiring and almost certainly the wrong time of year to try it. It's potted in a 12" x 12" x 4" growbox and will be fertilized as much as it will take this year.

I've got fertilizer holders coming in the mail. Last year I tried tea bags and the chipmunks made a big mess of things. Hopefully I'll come out on top of the 2017 fertilizer wars.

Please let me know what you think!

Nice job, I like what you've done with the roots. Excellent. Let it grow out this year, in autumn or later, wire it, end of winter, you can prune branches short to get rid of long straight branch segments. Don't think you need to chop real low, there are a couple possible lines. Let it grow out, see what new choices the tree gives you.
