Looks like an elm. Maybe Ulmus pumila.

From the picture of the tree growing and the bark it's a Chinese elm.
I had a couple with similar bark and @ColinFraser has one also I believe.

Well my 'elm' has been responding very well after colecting. Its spitting out new buds all over the place. I noticed there seems to be a cingular path up the trunk where buds are popping up far away from exsisting branches. Maybe there is a much stronger root feeding that section? I'm not sure but i will see when it gets repotted. All of the existing foliage upon collection has withered away and only has new growth. ( this tree never
Went dormant due to being right next to a garage where it was warmer)

At the moment (5 weeks later) the largest leafs are just under 1 inch, and the big tree next door has leaf that are nearly 2 inches. I understand that this is only due to the root system being in recovery mode, but i believe this species can get very small leafs once its in its final stages of refinement.

Ill take some more pictures tommorow morning. I regret not taking pictures after collection.

With this tree im thinking small. Maybe 10 inches in total height? Maybe a little shorter?

The first branch has some character due to how it starts out facing downward and then wraps upwards . If the trunk were fatter i would consider that first branch to be the 2nd trunk section, but i beliece thats too high from the root flare which is about 4 inches lower, 2 or so inches below the soil section.

Regardless what direction i go, i have time to reflect while it recovers.
