This is a dwarf cultivar Fuji cherry (prunus incisa) that I acquired as a bare root plant from a local garden nursery in the spring of 2013.
fcLT_2013-03-08.jpg

I now realize that I might have accomplished the root pad development and the size reduction in just two seasons instead taking three years as I have (it is now only about 12 inches tall whereas I started with it in a 16-inch diameter plastic bowl). I have no idea whether it will ever develop an interesting bark. It is a fun little tree nonetheless.

Leafs are small, so it is respectable in leaf at this size. Its growth habit pretty much dictates being broom-style.

In your earlier photo...it almost looked if there were contorted branches like my Kojo No Mai cherry. Blooms similar... I know mine is a contorted variety...the few branches in yours...made me think...hm-mm contorted as well? (Though in the back of my mind...I think this one of mine has been referred to as Fuji cherry back when I did some research on it.) Curious if yours could be what they also call the Kojo No Mai cherry...a contorted cultivar cherry.

A bit shaggy...I had only slipped it into this crescent. Later thinned it a bit more once blooms were spent. Can't wait to wire it soon. Next warm day if I'm free.

Little Twist and Kojo No Mai must be closely related. Little Twist is definitely contorted, but it tends to twist around (hence the name, I suppose). Maybe it was derived from Kojo No Mai.

Beautiful! Love the way you have let the branches extend in a natural way. This is the way to grow cherries!

Talking about Fuji cherries isn't a highjack.
Talking about wiring your pine, would be.

So, thanks :D for your participation! My apologies for not making it clear that 'Little Twist' is the cultivar.

Well, I see your point. Thanks for your take on it.

May I ask the size of your tree? Size of trunk...and height, width of canopy spread. Love Fuji cherry blooms...they are so spectacular in person. Close up of mine...assuming your bloom is very similar.

Yes, you may.
it is now only about 12 inches tall
I think you can get any other dimensions you are interested in by measuring a print or on your screen. I've got too many other things going on right now to be helpful :(.

No worries...your trunk just seemed a decent girth is all. Love Shohin size trees. They are my fav...
