Deciduous azalea - prioritize repotting or pruning?

I’ve got a deciduous azalea finishing flowering soon and I’m looking for advice from those that have worked with azalea before on whether I should prioritize getting it out of its very large (10 gallon or maybe more) nursery pot or if I should focus on doing its planned hard pruning while it’s still in the nursery pot. I plan on repotting into kanuma into a 15.75” 5” deep Anderson flat if I do that this year.

The soil it’s currently in is what it was collected in roughly 2-3 years ago.

Would do one big thing a year. Especially to a plant one is unfamiliar with.

Also, one might do a bit of research as deciduous azaleas are a different breed than evergreen azaleas.

Some enterprising BNutters have been working on figuring out these trees. Check out this thread.

Looking forward to seeing the progress of this tree.

cheers
