Took a walk today to check out the "Indicator Tree," an old cherry tree along the Tidal Basin in DC that is always the first to bloom every spring. So reliable in fact that the Park Service uses it to forecast peak cherry blossom season. With the warm winter, today its flower buds are already swelling (while all its neighbors remain asleep for the time being).
Not my trees but I took this of a few Mexican Plum near my apartment.
Trunk bark, I had no idea they were Mexican Plum and asked on the forum, I knew they were some kind of prunus. definitely considering one for my new home (or an eastern redbud) and definitely for a bonsai.
