Thank you for the reply....There are quite a few other large oaks but I think this is the largest. Hard to tell the place is over grown with privet. It was a cattle farm way back in the day.

Got it done.....3 boards on the bottom and new sides...I still need to add an addition board around the top...It started pouring down rain right after we moved it. Brian

The problem is not so much the sides but the bottom.....I'll try to figure out a way to just build a better box around it till spring. Thank Ya'll for the advice.

Long time no post.....I live in the North Georgia area and I have to repot my BC tomorrow.....The training box is falling apart. My question is should I do any root work/soil replacement or just try to move it to a new box while trying to disturb the roots/soil as little as possible....?

I have a house I'm looking to buy or at least bid on that needs quite a bit of work on the exterior and is listed in C4 condition. The house is in probate and they are not accepting any offers contingent with work to be done in order to close a loan. They will also not accept a 203K type loan...

I can't find it anywhere in the North Georgia area anymore...I switched to MotherEarth pumice that I get from hydroponics stores....The bags are smaller just 30 pounds but there are less fines than there was in the DryStall. The last Drystall I bought was $20 a bag. Brian

I will add this advice....Keep the roots under that huge trunk wet.....I let 3 of the 4 I dug a few years ago die and I'm pretty sure they just dried out under the bases. Brian

I dug 4 of these a few years ago.....Only put one in a grow box while putting the rest in the ground. The one in the grow box is still alive.....Doesn't look much like a bonsai but I like it anyway. Good luck... Brian

Collected azalea that was just re-potted a couple of weeks ago.....Not in full bloom yet but it's getting there. Brian

Mine isn't looking too good....I know almost half of the trunk is dead.....Not sure if the back side will bud this year or not. Brian
