Yamadori Larix Laricina - 1st Repot

Fwiw. This larch has been growing extremely well. Very vigorous grower. I'm not overly concerned about the amount of folliage and root mass cut back. All of these larches get fed and watered very well, and the peat/lava/pumice mixture seem to keep them quite happy as well. I'm looking...

TBS Thread - Fun with Nothofagus Seedlings

I've been doing experiments like that with some Bilobed Grewia cuttings. I heard to treat them like a trident. I heard they do fine in a cold frame. I hear they do great in tropical conditions. Well by process of seeing which cuttings live, I've narrowed it down to ... treat them like a...

Where can I find this watering can?

I second Lee Valley. The smaller rosettes from the little 2 litre red Haws are a lot more delicate than the larger ones. The small ones fit on large Haws cans no problem.

    SHOW AND TELL

@leatherback @Forsoothe! @sorce Thanks for posting these. I should have been a little bit clearer with this thread, as it was set up with haste and I didn't make it clear from the get go. It's a bit of a learning curve. In these threads within the Toronto Bonsai Society page, we are hoping...

Welcome to the Toronto Bonsai Society club forum!

With all the self isolation going on and club meetings being cancelled for the next foreseeable future, we thought it would be a great idea to give our club members another opportunity to connect, ask questions and share projects aside from our Facebook page. Since there's a good community on...

    JBP literati

At that age, you can wire it whenever you want really. Bend it real good. As the tree ages and thickens the strong angles will soften up visually. Now is the time to start introducing that movement.

How to deal with trunk rot at base

Do you want to keep the deadwood and accentuate it? or do you want the tree to roll over the deadwood area? If you want to keep the deadwood, it will be an ongoing battle. Most important part is to keep it away from moisture, and it seems that your mix is fairly well draining so it should...

I wonder why Thuja gets a bad rap....

That's a great tree that I've been admiring from a distance. One of the thuja's accepted to the nationals is in the pics I posted. Not going to say which one.. lol.. I am excited that there will be a 20 year progression, presentation of said tree at our next club meeting. I hear it's gonna...
