Rock Bridge, Clifty Wilderness Area, Kentucky

OK, not a picture of a tree, but there is a cascading rhododendron there! I included this photo because this is an incredible place. One of the few actual natural rock bridges because it arches over a stream.

When you approach this spot after a half-mile trail hike, you pass an amazing waterfall called Creation Falls, in a beautiful stone alcove, with a small beach nearby where children play. It is gorgeous and noisy (in a very nice way, believe me), with towering trees.

Then, you round a corner where the noise level plummets and everything is still, and suddenly the rock bridge is right in front of you, silent and powerful. Strong medicine in that place!
