If you could have just one bonsai, which would it be? I guess that's another way of asking what's your most favorite bonsai? I cannot completely explain it, but my attraction to deciduous trees grows more with the passing of time. I love Maple, Elm, but for while now I really love Hackberry. So much eye candy at this website, but I wish they'd continue update the gallery.

It's amazing to me how the variation in character each Hackberry tree has and strong feelings they evoke. It's like listening to the different movements of Beethoven's Pathétique sonata. Recently this is the one Hackberry I wish I could have or one like it. I wish to develop one of mine own to have character like this one screenshot below.

Any particular masterpiece you have an image of, folks? I'm a kinesthetic, tactile, and visual learner, but I'll have to settle for just visuals.

There are so many that are posted right here on BNUT that I would choose and I would choose them over any Kokufu tree. Final choice would be between a J. Maple or black pine although a couple shimps are pretty close too.

This thread is the equivalent of phone sex, we talk about the fantasy bonsai we'd get off on. Just teasing.

I could not be satisfied with just one, even if it was a Kofuku ten masterpiece. Besides, I'm not good enough to handle the responsibility of owning a masterpiece with a century or more history behind it.

One well developed Chojubai, one well done, own roots cork bark JBP, one over 50 years old American persimmon and a nice, old Satsuki azalea would go a long way towards being enough to keep me happy. Maybe a half dozen orchids and a large tray planting of bamboo to round out the year.

Actually I'm pretty happy with the crap I got, been thinking about downsizing a bit. Have already reduced the orchid collection by a third, so now I have less than 800 orchids. Need to do downsizing of sticks in pots. I've got young immature plants of all on my list, really just need to get them to develop, add another decade and they could be nice. Not masterpieces, but nice.

I'm betting none of us on this site can live with just one. Who is the closest?
Me, I'm up in the mid double-digits.
