There are a few; kaempferi is another that has been sold at Brussel's near Memphis for a long time.

All the research I can find says there is only one Pseudo, it goes by both names but Pseudolarix kaempferi is proper now I guess (depending on the site).
Too bad it's a slow grower cause it's a nice looking tree.

I've been busy and haven't been able to look at my trees for the past 2 weeks. Saw them today and MAN they grew a lot. Spring always comes early in SoCal and I already have full heads of green.

I know what's that's like, I'm only a few miles from 5a range.
Not that it stops me from trying them anyways!:D
BTW, that map is 5-7 range, I was reading some people planted it 4-8 so I dunno.
Is Kalkaska Michigan? If so, you should be in true Larch territory.

Yeah I am, more Maple, Pine and Spruce territory though.
I've never seen one where I live but a few miles away there are some stands. They seem to like swampy, spring flooded areas.
Also I don't have much access to land, none that have Larches that aren't 50+ ft tall.
Not sure I've seen Larches for sale around here either, if so they were small gallon pots.
I have a better chance buying a Dawn Redwood.
Last year I bought 25 Larch seedling from the local spring conservation sale...going to make a forest with some of them.

I'm guessing someone else watered them??o_O

These are my guys leading out.
I can genuinely say, since starting the hobby of course, I've never appreciated fresh leaves and new growth, quite as much as I have this year. Never even noticed.. but this year, it's something else.. it's weird really, I love it!

@ConorDash Love the lichen in that first photo.

Ah thank you for naming it! There's loads of it on the tree.. would definitely love to keep it when, or if I eventually do something with it. Your idea (or sorce's) previously of air layering the bottom branch off for a cascade is still a very interesting one to me. But anyways, different topic.

Yup...I have a fascination with Lichen. lol

The cascade was to come from the main root system...angling it above the cascade...to save the upper section to play with. The actual cascade would be the lower section below that air layer. Offering up a great taper to the cascade.

Yes, exactly.
Still plenty more to be had on that discussion but a different time and thread for now :).
