All the research I can find says there is only one Pseudo, it goes by both names but Pseudolarix kaempferi is proper now I guess (depending on the site). There are a few; kaempferi is another that has been sold at Brussel's near Memphis for a long time.

I know what's that's like, I'm only a few miles from 5a range.
Is Kalkaska Michigan? If so, you should be in true Larch territory.I know what's that's like, I'm only a few miles from 5a range.
Not that it stops me from trying them anyways!
BTW, that map is 5-7 range, I was reading some people planted it 4-8 so I dunno.
Yeah I am, more Maple, Pine and Spruce territory though. Is Kalkaska Michigan? If so, you should be in true Larch territory.
I'm guessing someone else watered them??I've been busy and haven't been able to look at my trees for the past 2 weeks. Saw them today and MAN they grew a lot. Spring always comes early in SoCal and I already have full heads of green.
Oh thank you sir, I didn't recognise the title.
@ConorDash Love the lichen in that first photo.
Ah thank you for naming it! There's loads of it on the tree.. would definitely love to keep it when, or if I eventually do something with it. Your idea (or sorce's) previously of air layering the bottom branch off for a cascade is still a very interesting one to me. But anyways, different topic.
Ahhhhh, you've taken a lichen to it then.Yup...I have a fascination with Lichen. lol

The cascade was to come from the main root system...angling it above the cascade...to save the upper section to play with. The actual cascade would be the lower section below that air layer. Offering up a great taper to the cascade.
