Here is a russian olive, just for fun. It's not very big or very good, but it makes me happy.

You said not very big but what is its size? Since you think it is not very good, I would be glad to take it off your hands! Just kidding, of course, but I like it a lot.

Cool, thanks for sharing it :)

Do you have any comments on caring for this species? I've seen nice ones both in garden centres and as old landscape specimens, and have always wondered how they would fare as bonsai. Based on what I've seen, part of their natural habit is to kill back most of the twigs before winter?

p.s. wow budding out already!

I have another one, it's a natural raft that I found that formed from a toppled tree that the branch rooted. I keep that one outside, this one, since it's in this pot that tends to get discolored when mulched, gets to spend the winter in the cold greenhouse. It's always the first thing to pop leaves. But my chinese elms are right behind too.
I've had no trouble with twig dieback, (on either one) I find they are super hardy, and pliable to wire. I'll try to get a shot of my other one soon and post it.

The flowers when it blooms, although not spectacular, are sweet, and smell so wonderful.

It's about 6" tall... I'm working on getting a bit more beef on the branching, then will start to work on ram.
