Is it possible to use wood bleach to clean/prepare this driftwood for use either as a mame planter or tanuki type arrangement? I am thinking of using an hinoki cypress with it. Would the runoff of oxalic acid affect the plant’s ph or is there a safe way to “preserve” or prepare a piece of driftwood like this for use in the art of small tree growing?

If you want to use it as a planter I'd soak it in epoxy solvent, then put it in epoxy resin and take it out before the epoxy dries.

Any bleacher, whether its oxalic acid or lime sulphur, will leach into the soil and potentially become problematic.
