I wanted to share this lecture that I return to often about the spirit of Classical Chinese painting, and the Literati, that I thought it might be interesting to listen to in relation to Bonsai and its historical antecedents. Something about the spirituality and the poetry of our relationship to nature from the perspective of traditional Confucian culture which are to Japan like Greece and Rome to the west. There Is a sizable section towards the end which relates directly to Bonsai and which has some moving thoughts in particular about the three friends of wintry weather--pine, plum, and bamboo :D
