Grafting Bottlebrush (Callistemon)

Has anybody here done it?

I have one with a low sacrifice branch that I want to approach graft right where I really need a branch. I've been training the sacrifice to loop around with this in mind, but I'm not sure about the feasibility of it taking with these . . .

I'd love some input if anybody's got it.

Haven't done it but they're pretty aggressive growers so my vote would be yes.

I don't think I have much to lose, and it seems to have really taken off since the weather got hot . . . Now or never, I suppose.

Mine back buds so much it's more of a problem deciding what to keep.

FYI, I just removed the wire from mine and it was deeply embedded into the bark. So, three months is too long to keep wire on. My guess is your graft will take by the end of the year.

I wish! I've been waiting for a bud at this spot (lowest/1st branch) each time I've hacked at this thing.

It definitely buds - that's where the sacrifice/scion came from - just not where I need it!
