Anyone know of anybody selling Dawn Redwood seedlings right now? Help appreciated.

IMHO they are very easy to grow from seed and there are several seed suppliers online who can get you started. If I can do it near Seattle, it's likely you can grow them where you are. It's also a great way to save money for the trees you can't grow from seed!

Valavanis at International Bonsai. Last time I was there, Bonsai Boy had a ton. Kaede-en, but not sure they are still selling this time of year.

The Dawn Redwood is very easy to start from cuttings. Buy one, grow it out a couple of years and you can start all your trimmings. I've rooted 1/4" stems, but usually take about 1/8". In one season they're shooting roots out the bottom of the pot. Oh, and I usually take them now, just as the buds are showing a little green.

BTW, if you don't know the Jonsteen Co, they're a great bunch of folks in No. California and a great resource for many native species, but especially Redwoods. They are very active in the preservation and propagation of our wonderful national resource.
