Thanks you Chris. My wife and I arrived on Wednesday and were glad to help out on Thursday, and made many new friends. We were amazed by the number of volunteers, especially Bill's senior group. They are a bunch of young at heart seniors. Alan was so good at making things go smoothly. His 85 years old mother drove up from Virginia to see the show! My wife had a picture with her and some new friends. The Knowltons even drove up several days early to help out. What a dedicated group. We traded a few messages before we finally caught up. We probably passed each other without knowing.
Hey, that's my mom in the first picture. It was so great meeting you guys. New bonsai friends! And thanks for helping set up, it wasn't just the local volunteers but people from all over the country and Canada came early and stayed late to help out. The bonsai community is truly the gem.

That was a big help, for sure! Very much appreciated.

Were any announcements made concerning 2018? Dates? Spring or fall?

I'm already figuring out what I'll bring!

My JBP got moved around several times! Bill V. Thought it was bigger than it actually is, because he was using the needles to estimate the size of the tree.

Well, the needles are only 1/2 inch...

This was one of it's temporary displays...

But it got moved two times after that!

So, I actually don't have a pic of the final display!

I'll get one tomorrow.
It is deceiving in size. It is about the same size as most of my trees, the same size as Brian's Shimpaku and the needles are tiny and in proportion. This is the best JBP I have ever seen and the best JBP in the exhibit and there were quite a few of them.

BVF's shimpaku is much taller than my JBP.

Yes but it falls into the same ball park. I think Bill was believing the tree to be one of those 4' tall three man bonsai due to the appearant needle size and the species. No one has ever seen a Black Pine with needles this size that I can remember.

I'm not really into scrolls and don't often even notice them in the displays...I'm focusing on the trees.

I had the trouble of focusing on the trees at our show too...

Quite the disservice to self....

Once I started taking them in, the displayed were much more "alive".

The harmony they bring is excellent.

I do believe I have a kink as well. I spent a good deal of time with Scott and was getting tired of looking way up! Thank God he stuck around until the end as I he graciously helped me pack up my entire set up including carrying a behemoth maple from Owen. Somehow we got it all in my car. Many, many thanks to you Scott!!
