What did you do today? Show us Pic Required

Assessing the damage from the freeze we had a few weeks back. Liquidambar lost a few branches, still don't know if it will wake up, will definitely find out by next month. Surprisingly, the chojubai which I lost 2 last year are all pushing flower buds. Japanese quince are all flower budding, but my surprise were the Japanese black pines. LAst year they were all out with no protection, this year I had the frost blanket over them. Only thing I can think off is because of the amount of roots they lost when I removed them from the grow beds. I thought they would be fine, as most of the roots are inside the bags... so maybe it was just the bitter cold wind, without the protection of the ice and snow.

I think I will be cleaning up the needles this weekend, then probably pruning a few branches. All of them but two surely need rebagging™. (™= trademark Maiden)

FILLED THE GROWHOUSE WITH MORE PINES AND ALSO REPOTTED MY SIBERIAN ELM BONSAI AND ALSO AN DOUBLE FLOWERED PINK HAWTHORN ( Hawthorn purchased last season from Evergreen gardenworks).

Increased fertilizer strength some so the Siberian Elms starters will stay green….these starters were seeds planted only 5 weeks 3 days ago!!! (Siberian elms last 4 pictures)
Fast growth.

after two years it would still be a stick.
Keep in mind though I only give this tree a two month dormancy or about 1000 hours or so .
It is started about 2 1/2 months early in a co2 fertilized growhouse every season.

Did you use the fabric again? I think the tree will refine much better without it. Unless you want it to get bigger? That fabric, in addition to your fert/nutrient regime adds a lot of growth and fast.

Got home from work and unloaded this nice 25 1/2" rounded rectangle from the kiln. Next weekend I am going to see how it may fit my friends large live Oak Tree. Well it's the weekend, time to get in the studio. Only a few more weeks until my trees take over my free time.
