Step 1: Use this thread to post challenge entries. Please include your category and variety of the material in the post. As per the Rules and Guidelines, please provide one photo of tree in the pot as you purchased it, one photo of the nursery where the purchase was made and one photo of the dated receipt. Once the entry has been approved, you will have 14 days to submit work. As a reminder the three categories are:
  1. Beginner – less than two years experience
  2. Intermediate – two to five years experience
  3. Advanced – more than five years’ experience

Step 2: Please email your finished tree to BSCEntries@gmail.com . You must include one photo of the front of your tree (how you want the viewer to see it) and one photo taken directly above (looking down on the tree), that's two photos. Please do not include any additional photos. Remember to include the variety and style in your email.

Intermediate. Boxwood. that's all I know. Purchased 3-1-15 at the flower farm.

Have to put this in. The nursery I purchased this tree from HIRED ME!! I've been working at labor ready since nov. and now i'm going to be working at a plant nursery. more on that to come. Basically no matter what I win, because i'm finally stepping into the plant industry which is one step closer to having my own potted tree garden.

I'm excited for this seasons BSC. I hope to see some more entrants.

I forgot to snap a pic of the nursery but The Flower Farm doesn't exactly shout bonsai.

Man, if the challenge can be instrumental in providing employment for one of our members then we all win! Congratulations one both counts (yes the tree qualifies). Now two things. First, are you sure you should be working at a nursery? It's kind of like an alcoholic working at a liquor store. :D Second, your finished tree must be emailed by March 15th

Good job Blake. I hope you can appreciate may humor.

Totally appreciated. Luckily I'm extremely frugal so I'll probably wind up taking in all the half dead stuff no one wants. I've always been a sucker for strays.

I start on weds morning. I'll get pics and start a thread to follow my experience and growth. Thanks for doing this challenge man, I needed a distraction and wound up with a solution. Doesn't get much better than that.

Oh and the final pics will be sent in as soon as I can get the cannon from my sis in law.

Happy growing

Well, there goes my interesting entry :D That's what I'll most likely be using as well but I can't get mine until tomorrow. I'll be in the intermediate category as well so it should be interesting where we take ours. Oh yeah, it qualifies so you have 14 days to submit your work. Very cool by the way.

When I was searching for material last weekend I seen some but wanted to see if there were some better options before I bought one. There are other options for me, no doubt, but I want to try something different so I can increase my experience. I'm 99% sure at this point. Good luck.

I've got two ways I can do this...go with my #2 on my want list and find a tree that I fall in love with the bones...or...go with plan B...buy two trees and enter one that isn't on my want list....but would work for my out of the box thinking plan. And something I've tossed about for sometime before the challenge was brought up. So win/win...I see me buying two trees...and listing one in the challenge. And working both for the fun of it.

Self disqualification. When I went to wire this I realized that the reason it was on the dead pile was because of an infestation of wood borers. Bark started peeling off. So,..back to the search!

That sucks! There's plenty of time to find something else though. Good luck with the search.

I'm entering in the Intermediate category. Picked up this Callistemon (Bottlebrush tree) from the same nursery that I purchased the Fall Box Store Challenge Juniper from. Purchased on 3/7/2015. It's going to be to tough but I love a challenge.

Cool! I love the bark on these. Mine back buds like mad, so contest or not, it should be fun to work with.
