It occurs to me that this forum has way too many sub forums. Did the person put that large tree in the species forum or the size forum? I don't know, I'm lost recently.

With that said, maybe all of the posts should be in the "general" forum. That way they will be easy to find being in all one place. New posts will always show up in one place and one forum to cruise thru.

Sounds easy to me?

I think 1 unique forum is a mistake and too many is a mistake too... The fact that a repotting a 30 inch pine over rock could go to Pines, dai and omono, root over rock forums is where it starts getting messy.

I vote for omitting general discussion.

Putting a thread in general discussion is like buying an s shaped chinese elm, and loving it.

It's like.....

Yeah, toss out all of the size / theme fora, and just keep the 'by species' section, I would say.

Ah guys your making things way to complicated. Just 1. sign in and 2. click on "new posts". WaLA you get the unread post and can quickly identify the trolls that you wish to drop a little venom on.

But what Smoke is trying to get at is everybody posts threads in general discussion. Pines, junipers, maples, the whole forest is in the general discussion forum when they should be in their respective forums.
If you come on here and search something on pines shouldn't you be able to go through the pines forum to get your answer?
That's where I would look. So maybe there is some good information in a thread in the general discussions forum but it could get overlooked because I looked in pines.
New posts isn't a forum.

Yeah, But there is a search function at the top too... It can search all forums and is a much more efficient means of searching for a topic...

Now, if we want to be technical, all these posts Smoke keeps making as veiled "suggestions" and "feedback" could probably go in the "Feedback and suggestions" subforum... You know if we were trying to be accurate about where we post our messages! :)
