I'm holding an Ulmus contest, for myself, and you should too!

Rules-
1. Ulmus
2. Win! (Create a dope tree and if you need to know you won, count likes or enter it in a show)

I hope to enter at least 7 this year, maybe even 9-12!

First up, a lil # I dug from under a park bench fall of 2013.

No leaves till May last year!


And current 3/7/15


These 2 high roots are coming off, if there are good roots at the bottom of the flare.

Or will get pinned down to a better position.


I expect this flare and surface rootage to get better in its new screen pot!


This is in a 4inch pot! I'm trying to keep this right tiny.


Only the central leader will be kept, and not higher than the nub, the others are currently lambs for the sacrifice.

I was just informed by my wife that a selfie is a picture one takes of themself ? lol I thought Ulmus selfie meant the thing on the pot was called a selfie and it was being used on an Elm.

So I noticed buds green and about to push leaves yesterday.

A little early but I had to do it.

This is the first repot of this since collected. It too, grew these roots in rocks and dirt.

Not many or interesting photos, the lines show the individual roots that got cut, and the general bottom mass that was removed, 90%!

Keeping the surface roots a bit deep still.


Pot prepped.


I chopped off a couple big roots growing down from the center.
Has a nice spread. Lot of good feeders, a good start for its new pot!

He'd to. My sisters boyfriend is in guess? Construction!
She called yesterday saying that him and his guys were coming to work on the garage. Getting resided. If I want that dam tree I might want to get it. So here it is. Kind of sucks. Going to be doing the bonsai 2 step with this. Everything is frozen still.
I was going to do a little tease and start with small ones working my way up. I guess we start large and work our way down.
